From time to time, it is necessary for members of a House to take a step back and take some time off. This could mean one has work or family concerns that prevent one from doing the work of the House, or perhaps one is dealing with illness that prevents one from being fully present in the House. So a member can take a Sabbatical for a given amount of time and return in good standing when whatever crisis has been addressed.
